The Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) was founded in 1971 to manage certain accounts for the Pacific Life Insurance Company. While PIMCO continues to operate autonomously, it was acquired by Allianz SE in 2000. In November 2016, Emmanuel Roman became the company’s new CEO, and Roman since went on to earn the Chicago Booth Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his professional achievements.
