About the Company

The Home Depot is built on self-reliance. Founders Bernie Marcus and Arthur Bank left their old posts at an aging home improvement shop and realized the vision of a home improvement store that not only provided parts and tools, but knowledge and expertise, a helping hand that could not only sell a product, but teach a skill. Intern Reviews

  • “The company culture is amazing. I was required to work 40 hours a week right at full time. The balance was great. My manager always prioritized my health and family concerns over work and never put pressure on me in a bad situation. My team was great about positive and insightful feedback.”
  • “Everyone involved in the program went above and beyond to ensure my experience both benefited me and the company. I received regular feedback on my performance and felt very invested in it. I had many opportunities to learn new skills and meet lots of different people.”
  • “The culture of Home Depot is great. My management team is very friendly and approachable. I worked from home for the majority of my internship; however, I had the option to work from the corporate office whenever I wanted.”
  • “The culture here is amazing. Everyone, including senior leadership, is incredibly approachable, down to Earth, and willing to take time out of their busy schedules to talk to you and help you. Everyone is super friendly and always looking out for each other. I was required to work 40 hours/week (8 hours/day, though this was flexible). The work/life balance was amazing. The expectation was that you would work your 8 hours, and then you were completely done for the day. If you have some important life event going on, or even if you just need a break, that comes first, and work can wait.”

Why Intern Here

The pandemic shifted our summer plans, but it also gave us a chance to show our interns how we solve problems, think creatively, and adapt to unexpected situations. From the comfort of their screens, our interns met company leaders, collaborated with each other on major projects, and even had game days to get to know each other.

Our interns own projects from start to finish. As the 12 weeks fly by, they apply what they know, pick up new skills, and collaborate with people across the company to make their projects come to life. It’s a great way to meet our leaders and learn valuable leadership lessons from some of the best in the business.

The 2024 Internship is May 13, 2023 through July 26, 2024.

Getting Hired Here

  • “The hiring process for the internship was very smooth. They are very good at keeping you updated throughout the process. My interview was two rounds with different people.”
  • “After applying, I received an email roughly 1-2 months after the deadline for applications was due. I went through a preliminary phone interview describing the assets that I had. I received a prompt email for an online virtual group interview to showcase my teamwork abilities with others, and after that, roughly 1-2 weeks later, I received a phone call about my acceptance into the program.”
  • “The hiring process was extremely smooth and done well, two rounds, and then I was offered a position. The entire interview, I felt heard and appreciated for being there.”
  • “The interviews were pretty standard for me. I was asked about my skills/resume and several behavioral questions. I did one initial phone interview. After that, I was moved along to the next step, which included two back-to-back, 30-minute interviews with different interviewers. A few weeks after that, I received my offer.”
