Survey Says

Training & Assignments

  • “We were given assignments from work coordinators and also had the opportunity to sign up for specific assignments on an online system. Associates or partners could also request specific summers for a project, but the asks went through a work coordinator which made it a bit easier to say yes or no if we didn't have capacity. …”
  • “We were given tons of opportunities to get work from different practice areas and to make a connection with partners and associates (which is the principal point of the summer program). I was staffed on a variety of pro bono cases (doing substantive work) as well as on a couple relatively high-profile firm matters.”
  • “I received substantive work from the start of the summer program. I had opportunities to draft motions and participate in client meetings.”
  • “Assignments were varied and meaningful, I got substantial feedback from the partners assigned to my matters on every assignment that I did.”

Social Opportunities

  • “Many fun and interactive social events and programs. There were many opportunities to interact with all levels of firm attorneys in a fun and comfortable environment.”
  • “The camaraderie was the best part. Several of the associates I summered with are among my closest friends and I treasure the relationships we were able to build.”
  • “We were an extremely close knit group of summers. We all attended an event or two a week, kept a group chat (that still goes to this day), and got along extremely well. We were given tons of opportunities to interact with associates and partners.”
  • “The social aspects were great and there was a good balance of fun events as well as educational ones.”

Associate Experience vs. Summer Expectations

  • “The summer associate expectations haven't really differed from my experience as a first year. The attorneys are really supportive, even in a virtual environment. I have great mentorship. I've been given the opportunity to try a lot of focus areas in my practice group.”
  • “I would say that my summer was an accurate reflection of my work experience. I do not feel we were led astray. Of course, I am considerably busier now than I was then.”
  • “My summer experience has been fairly close to actual experience. One thing that is very different is how work is assigned. There is no real work portal or coordinator and instead the office is really a free market system.”
  • “I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of responsibility given to first year associates in the Corporate group. I have already had the opportunity to communicate directly with clients.”
