Summer Program Overview

Our small class size of 10-12 summer associates in total, coupled with our mentorship programs, makes for an engaging, supportive, and enriching summer experience. Our summer associates select a practice area of interest (Corporate, Litigation, or Intellectual Property) and are immersed in that practice area for the duration of the program. Summer associates are also encouraged to participate in our extensive pro bono opportunities. After spending nine weeks at the firm, our summer associates know our lawyers, understand what we do, and are ready to hit the ground running after law sc...

Survey Says

Training & Assignments

  • “Our summer associate program started with a series of trainings that pertained to general nuts and bolts of being an associate. Most of the work was substantive research. I did not have to do any document review as a summer associate. I was able to get a diverse array of matters within the litigation section, allowing me to find areas that I was particularly interested in.”
  • “Each corporate associate was put on deal teams that lasted throughout the summer (or until the transaction closed) in M&A, VC, and capital markets instead of random one-time assignments.”
  • “We have a relatively lean summer program, which allows summer associates to work on substantive issues of cases. For example, I worked on a patent invalidity analysis as a summer associate.”
  • “I was given substantive assignments. It was clear the supervising attorneys wanted to give me an opportunity to prove myself and would often let me take the first crack at drafting work product.”

Social Opportunities

  • “Lots of happy hours and events with associates and members; plenty of time for discussion and getting to know one another over lunches.”
  • “I thought the summer program was great—the events were very creative and had a good mix of partners and associates attending. I also felt very welcome in the group, and the firm made efforts to introduce us around.”
  • “There was great camaraderie between my class of summer associates and still is. We had such a fun summer together! The firm had various social events, but they were not overwhelming, and I never felt required to attend anything if I was tired or had work to do.”
  • “We had weekly social events, including a cooking class with attorneys at the firm, escape rooms, and more. Our summer associate class was extremely close and we still hold a weekly get-together on Fridays.”

Associate Experience vs. Summer Expectations

  • “The summer associate experience was actually pretty similar to life as a first year. The only real difference has been that our free time has been replaced with document review. But otherwise, it was a good approximation. Interactions with other associates and partners has been a little different given the remote environment. However, people at the firm have made a concerted effort to resolve that gap.”
  • “My experience has been better than I could have imagined. Everyone at the firm is very kind and takes time to explain and mentor me in my work. But the best part is that I have felt appreciated at the firm. When I submit work to senior associates or partners they are thankful and always take the time to affirm good work and mentor areas that need improvement.”
  • “I feel that what I was told has pretty much lined up with how things have been. [I] do not feel like anyone pulled the wool over my eyes.”
  • “My summer experience was very similar to practicing at my firm. I've been able to work with the same partners and new partners, and everyone has been extremely supportive and great to work with.”

Favorite Summer Events

  • “My favorite summer event was a cooking class at a local restaurant, where we prepped and ate the courses with a number of attorneys from the firm.”
  • “We did a duck tour around Boston, which was really fun!”
  • “Boda Borg.”
