Growth

In 2019, Lowenstein Sandler saw a more than 11 percent growth in revenue, following a 14 percent jump from the prior year. For over 10 years, we have continued this strong upward trajectory while maintaining our steadfast commitment to our clients, colleagues, and communities. Last year, Law.com reported that our growth in “gross revenue … [was] among the highest revenue growth rates in the second hundred [ranked firms].”

Lowenstein has maintained a strategic focus on key business sectors, including investment funds, life sciences, and technology.

• Our Investment Management practice launched roughly 200 funds over the past three years across a wide variety of strategies and asset classes, with well over $20 billion AUM at launch.
• This year our Venture Capital practice closed over 500 venture-backed deals involving some of today’s most innovative companies.
• The Wall Street Journal ranked our Bankruptcy, Financial Reorganization & Creditors’ Rights practice among the top 10 nationwide.
• Our Private Equity and M&A teams handled a record-breaking number of deals, including numerous large-scale, cross-border matters worth billions of dollars; these deals could not have been done without the expanding capabilities of our  Global Trade & Policy practice.Our Capital Markets & Securities team worked on public offering after public offering throughout the year–many in the life sciences space.
• The Litigation group secured great outcomes for clients in the investment funds space, pharmaceuticals, and other industries.
• Our award-winning Intellectual Property practice continued to help protect the intellectual property assets of some of America’s largest tech and life sciences companies.
• In the past two years, our Tech Group has helped create hundreds of new businesses and closed more than 1,000 growth equity, angel, and private equity investments.

Our success as a firm is directly linked to our ability to create a community that is diverse, inclusive, and appreciative of differing points of view. From our roots as members of the Lawyers Commission for Civil Rights to serving as co-founders of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, inclusivity is a part of Lowenstein Sandler’s DNA.

Our internal policies include expansive parental leave for opposite-sex and same-sex couples, domestic partner benefits, an on-ramping period following return from parental leave, and flexible work arrangements that respect our employees’ individual work-life demands. Currently, 22 percent of our non-partner attorneys are in alternative career path roles. Remote work, or telecommuting, is available to attorneys. Attorneys also enjoy unlimited vacation time.

Lowenstein’s Employee Resource Groups (ERG) provide forums for career development, personal enrichment, community service, and fellowship. Celebrating cultural and social diversity, our Diversity Leadership Network, LGBTQ Alliance, and Women’s Initiative Network offer exciting programming and a space for authentic engagement for members, the firm, and the community. The Lowenstein Parents Network serves both attorneys and staff and provides much valued support, advice, and resources for the group’s members. The newest ERG, the Women’s Enrichment Initiative, provides professional development and networking opportunities for the firm’s women Business Resource Group members.

Diversity and inclusion training is regularly offered by the firm, touching on a variety of diversity-related topics (e.g., unconscious bias, challenges in the workplace for diverse lawyers).

Professional Development

The firm is committed to assisting its employees in building their skills and careers and providing effective processes for accomplishing this. Lowenstein University (LSU) offers all employees convenient on-site opportunities to learn, broaden skills, share knowledge, and leverage the many resources the firm provides so that they can work more efficiently and effectively. Our Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program pairs each new attorney with a mentor who answers career questions, helps him or her integrate into the firm, and acquaints the attorney with firm culture and procedures.
