About the Company
Coinbase was founded in June 2012 by its current CEO Brian Armstrong and former Goldman Sachs trader Fred Ehrsam. By October of the same year, Coinbase launched its services, which allow users to buy and sell bitcoins through bank transactions. The company received some large, key investments in its early years, fueling growth and increasing its user base. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Coinbase adopted a “remote first” position for the safety of its associates, and expanded its services to include a Visa debit card program in 2020. The company is a fully remote organization, with no official headquarters.
