About the Company

The Allianz Group was founded in 1890. It was originally located in Berlin, and sold marine and accident policies before opening its first international branch in London in 1893. It was around this time that the company began to sell corporate policies and expanded its operations all over Europe. In the early 1900s, Allianz started offering fire insurance and life insurance, making it the largest provider of the latter in Europe by the end of the 1920s.
