As the use of artificial intelligence continues to become more mainstream, many industries will want to keep up with emerging and ongoing trends. In order to implement AI systems effectively, companies will have to hire entirely new roles that specialize in working with AI technology. Here are some new roles that were created as a result of the continued use of AI.

AI Trainer

If you’ve experimented with any AI programs such as ChatGPT, you know that the AI can learn from the information you provide it with. The job of an AI trainer is to “teach” AI to interact with people who engage with it. A good example of this would be those chatbots that you might encounter when visiting certain websites—with the right trainer, you might not know whether you’re speaking with a person or with an AI system.

AI trainers might find themselves working with these AI chatbots for a variety of reasons. As different industries start to implement AI systems, the demand for this role will increase. To get started as an AI trainer, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data management, or a related field. In this role, you can expect to make between $95,000 and $173,000 per year.

AI Ethicist

As the use of AI becomes more widespread across many industries issues of ethics will arise, which is where the role of an AI ethicist comes in. These professionals are responsible for developing safety standards and a code of ethics that companies must adhere to when using AI systems, and then ensuring that those systems aren’t being used in harmful or otherwise nefarious ways.

Similar to our last entry, the demand for this job will grow steadily as more industries begin to implement AI systems. Those who are interested in this career path should seek to obtain a bachelor’s degree in ethics, computer science, philosophy, or a related field. As an AI ethicist, you can make up to $137,000 per year.

AI Business Development Manager

AI is all the rage right now, but some companies are still on the fence about implementing AI systems into their day-to-day operations. As an AI business development manager, you’ll be required to have a great depth of knowledge of AI and its various applications so that you can help companies implement it in new and exciting ways.

Those who are fascinated with new technology and keep up with current trends will make great AI business development managers. To get into this career, go after a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. As you navigate your studies, keep in mind that you might need a master’s degree in certain cases. In this role, you can expect to make anywhere from $78,000 to $126,000 per year.

Data Detective

Are you still watching old reruns of Forensic Files? Do you consider yourself an amateur sleuth? If you answered yes to either of these questions and you’re also way into new technology, you might make a great data detective. These professionals implement machine learning and AI systems to analyze evidence, suspects, and clues to crack the case.

As law enforcement starts to implement AI, this job will be in increasing demand. If you’re interested in this career, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. As a data detective, you’ll be making anywhere between $140,000 and $184,000 per year.

Prompt Engineer

If you’ve spent countless hours obsessively feeding AI programs different prompts in search of the perfect response, this role might be a great fit for you. As a prompt engineer, you’ll be tasked with developing and testing numerous prompts for a variety of AI systems including chatbots and virtual assistants, while also refining said prompts in order to ensure accurate, high-quality responses.

A great prompt engineer is someone who thinks creatively and can view problems from a variety of perspectives. For this role, you should seek a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. As a prompt engineer you will become a cash mogul, with the potential to make up to $335,000 per year!

If you’re at all interested in new technologies and the use of artificial intelligence, now would be the time to start figuring out how your skillset can be leveraged into a career. The continued use of AI will greatly alter many aspects of our lives and how we work, so it’s becoming increasingly important to harness it in responsible and ethical ways.
